HISTORY OF GLOBAL AFM

Pimville Assembly

AFM stands for "Apostolic Faith Mission" (in Afrikaans: "AGS - Apostoliese Geloofsending"). The AFM exists since 1908 and is the first and largest Pentecostal church in the country - with 1.4 million members in SA and currently established in more than 29 countries of the world.

"Pentecostal" means that it is a church who believes that the Spirit of God is given to believers to live dynamic and overcoming lives.

About Us!

The Apostolic Faith Mission Pimville Assembly was established in the early 80 s and started initially as a branch to the Meadowlands Assembly. At the helm of the Meadowlands Assembly was the later Pastor H Mthembi who delegated the leadership of Pimville to, at the time, Elder Selby Sibeko who would later go to Bible College and qualify as a Pastor.

Pimville has been housed at Musi High School which had been easy to get because the first convert, Mr Mcdonald Sipho Mthethwa was a student there and he later became a teacher at the same school. In addition, one of the church elders sat in the school s governing body for a number of years.

Needless to say, the status quo is no longer acceptable in the light of the growth of the Church. The Church has evolved over time and boasts mainly a substantial number of young people and a relatively young pastor, pastor C.Z Khoza and his wife Mrs. M.S Khoza, and church board.

VALUES

Integrity

We understand integrity as being genuine honest and sincere. Thi Quality - as with or other values should be sponteneously accosiated with AFM members, pastors and churches

Relationships

Coming from a racially devided past, and whilst celebating our God-given diversity, we appreciate our unit as a God-given treasure. We encourage genuine and edifying relationships between believers, pastors and assemblies. We also encourage spiritual father-son and mentor-mentee relations.

Accountability

In a society where individualism is prominent, we believe that accountability is non-negotiable in the church. History teaches that those who avoid accountability follows a path of eventual self-destruction. We expect accountability on all levels of leadership.

Excellence

In spite of our diversity and different levels of development and affluence, we encourage excellence in all church activities. Poverty is no excuse. Because we are living and working for the Almighty God who is also the God of excellence, mediocrity should be avoided at all cost.
